Splints
s hould be worn at night to prevent extreme curling
of the wrist (as pictured on the link). Many people
subconsciously curl their wrists at night when they
sleep. This can cause or exacerbate symptoms affecting
the wrist and forearm, especially carpal tunnel
syndrome. For purchasing information about one of
the Gentle on the Joints™ splints we like,

Splint.
Back
Belts: OSHA recently published
information about the use and safety of certain
ergonomics equipment, such as backbelts. Since backbelts
may give the user a false sense of security, the
WMSD Organization has not awarded any back belts
its Gentle on the Joints™ Commendation.
Backpacks:
Backpacks can be a source of permanent back and
shoulder pain, especially in children. It would
be almost impossible to list a backpack as ergonomic
or Gentle on the Joints, since the mere use of a
backpack almost always puts a person at risk - unless
it is a rolling pack and is used exclusively as
such.
Backpacks
should have certain features and parents should
be diligent when purchasing them for kids; a general
rule - the smaller the better.
The best way to purchase a backpack - go to the
store and try on several different types. Print
and use our guidelines to be sure you get the best
fit for your child.
